Getting a pet jumping spider is an extremely exciting event. We are here to help 100 percent of the way. We've created this fun Sling Starter Pack that has everything you need to bring home your pet jumping spider.
Slings are a hearty i5/i6, meaning they have molted 5 or 6 times before going home. You can choose a male ($25), female ($30) or an unsexed ($20) sling.
It means EVERYTHING! It's a super convenient way to feed fruit flies to your pet jumping spider.
I recommend leaving your sling in their travel cup to determine whether or not they're in premolt before relocating them to another enclosure. This is common during shipping as slings are fed really well, packed with extra food & have a nice, comfy hammock made. While you're getting to know your new little friend, there's a cork hole for easy feeding~fruit flies can be feisty, so I hope this helps during the "baby phase".
Enclosures are so much fun. You're thinking of all the possibilities...and they are endless. Slings need a small enclosure with the smallest of ventilation holes so the fruit flies...and the spiders can't escape. I've designed ah-dorable garden themed sling enclosures at random. They are the perfect starter enclosure for your new pet jumping spider while you prepare their forever home.
Introducing larger and different prey is important for your new pet jumping spider. We grow healthy mealworms in organic material. What is really neat is that the mealworms will molt and grow along with your pet jumping spider. Keep them somewhere cool and dark and your jumping spider will have plenty of mealworms for months to come.
Your pet jumping spider will love all the elements of their sling home. While they live it up here, you have plenty of time to put together a forever enclosure.
These items are essential when keeping a jumping spider as a pet.
Daily mists are needed for hydration and humidity. This spray bottle works perfectly. *Misting Tip: remove the lid to the cup or bottom of the enclosure, hold the mister about 12 inches away and spray like you're spraying fancy perfume. Teeny, smaller than sand size droplets will get everywhere. These are a completely safe size of droplets for your sling to drink from.*
A soft paint brush is good to use as a guide for moving your jumping spider from one place to another. For example, if you need to clean their enclosure, gently guide them with the paint brush into a temporary setup so you can tidy up without disrupting them. *Do not attempt to guide or nudge a jumping spider out of their hammock ever. This is a very unsafe practice and could fatally harm your jumping spider.*
Long tweezers are perfect for hand feeding your jumping spider and carefully removing debris from their webbing. *Be mindful not to damage webbing when removing debris and dead prey.*
